FOUNDER BIOGRAPHY:

Jim Malamatenios, CEO and Owner of Plus 1 Accessories, developed an interest in the auto industry at an early age. He grew up as a young helper in his father's South Bay Auto Body shop in Los Gatos, California and by the time Jim was a teenager, he had seen and worked on thousands of autos. At the age of 21, he became the owner of Up-N-Down Custom Creations. His custom designed and painted 4-wheelers, cars, and custom parts were featured in several trade magazines including 4-Wheeler, Sports Trucks, and Truckin.

Jim then turned his creative instincts to vehicle accessories, wondering why accessories were designed without the actual vehicle in mind.

"Cars came in with accessories that were obviously added after the original purchase." he remembers telling his Dad. "They always looked out of place. The parts never quite fit. The size was either too big or too small, and the colors seldom matched. Even the hardware used to attach the accessory to the vehicle was foreign. If the auto was in an accident, the quality of the parts material would not withstand damage."

As owner of Up-N-Down Custom Creations and later of his father's South Bay Auto Body shop, Jim began to design and build accessories that would enhance rather than detract from the original design of the vehicle and would ensure durability and performance as well. Hummers and all SUVs were the perfect vehicles for showcasing Jim's creative ideas. So the decision to build low-profile light bars and fog lights for them was inevitable.

In 2005, Plus 1 line expanded to include Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford, GMC, Hummer, Jeep, Nissan, Toyota  and Yamaha Rhino. Today, thousands of Plus 1 Accessories are on SUVs, trucks and more. Look for more distinctly designed Plus 1 Accessories to come.
